Nagoya Castle

What's disappointing
- Paid the 500 yen entrance fee, but there was almost nothing to see
- The Main Keep (Tenshukaku) is closed for restoration, so you can't go inside
- The Honmaru Goten Palace feels too new, lacking any historical atmosphere
- The line for the Honmaru Goten was endless, so I had to give up
- The ground isn't well-maintained when it rains; there are many deep puddles and my shoes got soaked
- Very hot in the summer with no proper places to rest
- Lacks cultural content that resonates with Korean tourists
- Not much to see and the area around the castle is too cramped for a walk
- Worse accessibility and less worth visiting compared to Osaka Castle
What's still okay
- Good accessibility from Nagoyajo Subway Station
- Can be a nice backdrop for photos during cherry blossom season
- Cheap entrance fee and easy to get to
- Scenic views good for photography
- Can appreciate the architectural beauty and traditional vibe of Honmaru Goten Palace
If you still go
Avoid visiting if you are expecting to explore the inside of the Main Keep. It's okay for a light stroll or photos, but keep in mind the lack of rest areas in hot weather.
